I have been moving, decided to join the rest of the homeowners.... not that I actually will spend any time there. And the reason for that, well besides not terribly liking being alone without a tv, is work. I'm pretty sure I am slightly behind at this point, and yes that is an understatement. So I have been having to work a bunch more to make up for prior slacking. Ugh, it goes with the territory of being a procrastinator. So that pretty much sums up what I have been doing, I know its exciting stuff. Oh couple of quick points... I am an unbelievable idiot and have scheduled going back to Africa to visit at the same time as the opening of the football season. Who does that? I will miss the first two UGA games!!! So mad at myself. I will be living on the internet the entire saturdays. The things we do for family. Secondly, you need to go check out this band "The Zac Brown Band". They are absolutely awesome, and probably one of my favorite bands right now. (yes I am a fickle beast) They have a page on myspace and everything, go listen... What are you still doing here? I said go listen, especially to 'Whatever it is'. Ok that is everything I had to write, now back to that work I am doing my best to ignore.

Procrastination

Why do I do it? I swear I would actually post occasionally if it wasn't for the fact that I procrastinate even that. I have the uncanny ability to find something, anything else to do... seriously you should see the lengths I have gone to, to avoid work. I will even do someone elses work instead, or even blog sometimes :) I think it stems from my undying optimism that I will get it done anyway, and yes I have had times when I haven't gotten it done... yet I have managed to get away with that and get it done. Ugh oh well I guess I should start now, I have a 7 am flight, so I can't be up all night.

Work sucks sometimes

Ok, so I started off with a great effort of two posts in two days (yeah I know the second one was a picture and a bit of a cop out...). Then work got into the way. Yeah I know lame excuse everybody gets busy, and there are such fine examples to imitate like EDSBS (how the hell do they put out 4-5 posts a day?) But I think this time I have a valid reason, travel. Now I'm not talking about going to one place for a week and then coming home, that would be normal, no I am talking spending a day in three different states in one week, while doing three different jobs... and no I am nowhere near that important. Ok I know still a lame excuse, but none the less its the one I'm sticking with. Alright now that I have complained a little, back to our regular programming...

Today I wanted to mix a little bit of opinion and football, namely in the topic of rivalries. Every team has them, or at least one. The most common discussion always centers around which rivalry is the best. Personally I have to say this is purely opinion and extremely regional. What I wanted to go over was what I think (read opinion) it takes to be a rivalry.

Ok first off you have to play frequently, you may hate that team your team used to play like 20 years ago, but I'm sorry not a rivalry, otherwise every team we play would be one. There is one exception to this in-state rivals as in UF vs. Miami.

Leading me to the next one, in-state pretty much means rival.

Rivals have to be the same level. GSU (Div II) is not a rival for UGA (Div IA) (look below to see why I use UGA as an example a lot).

Not everybody you play in your conference is a rival, that's just conference play and yeah the games mean more than your average out of conference game..... yeah still not automatically a rival.

Named games automatically makes it a rival (remember my opinion) As in the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party or the Red River Shootout.

When you have a trophy at stake, it's a rival.

Major historic events can create a rivalry.

Alright that is my list, now no one actually reads this (I do it for, wait why do I do it?) so if you happen along and feel like I left something out or want to disagree go ahead.

What finally actually putting up a post?

Yeah I know, been pretty slow about getting this up here. I figured for my first (actually left up there and not removed) post I would start with background. Believe me I have lots of opinions both football and pretty much everything. For Football this week go to the links (and click on any of theirs, well worth the reads). Ok I like ellipses and parenthesis, so you will see lots of them here.

Too set up some background and explain my likely (absolutely blatant) biases; here is a brief history..... (see told you so) I began my wild and crazy existence in Africa knowing nothing of this football or many things American. Anyway after many years of boring stuff I found myself immigrating to Georgia and needless to say there was a mild adjustment period, lets just say Atlanta public high school is a tad different. I spent my one year and was off to college, armed with Hope (the scholarship thing in GA not the other kind) I went to the best University in the state (purely based on my um... how to put this... my own damn opinion and the female to male ratio). Party blah Gameday Blah test blah party blah downtown blah Gameday blah. Anyway six years later and 3 degrees I graduated with a die hard love for the Dawgs and that great Classic City.

Now I live and work (except when traveling) in that melting pot that is Atlanta, I'm friends with such diverse people as tOSU folk, those whacky gators (try to keep this to a minimum, but they are half my office), the rest of the SEC, ASU, ND, Michigan, and even Southern Cal. Wait you classify diversity as something other than the school you root for? Why what else matters? I like the chance to talk smack about football, but hate those fans that can't take someone saying something about their team or who take it personal..... you are not right about everything and your team is not the OMGZ best team Eva to everyone, learn it, accept it, move on. Now with that said, smack will always be welcome and is expected, half the fun is having opposite fans to disagree with.

Ok, that's enough of a background for me... gives everybody a basis to view what I write and just remember it says Opinions a lot on this blog. Oh and a final disclaimer I write the way I speak and think... yeah scary I know.
